Society, Institute, Civic and Political Occasions
Having received a formal training and having passed the necessary
exams, David is well versed with the correct form of address either
announcing guests to the President of the occasion or announcing
speakers, be they Royalty, Peerage, Prime Minister, Secretaries of
State, Ministers, Members of Parliament, professional people, or at a County or Civic
level, Lord Lieutenant, Lord Mayor, and Mayor, and indeed has
officiated at functions for both the Labour Party and Conservative
Party.
David will discuss with the function organiser, either face to face in advance or on the phone all aspects of the evening with a view to fine tuning the event to ensure a smooth-running occasion.
Having arrived at least an hour prior to the start, David will liaise with the organiser and the banqueting manager of the day the programme for the function, including of course the grace, loyal toast and speeches, auction or raffle if necessary.
As part of his duties, David will:- Liaise with the event organiser to ensure perfect timing
- Accompany (usually Vice President or Secretary) at the door to greet VIPs if required
- Announce VIPs and guests to the President at the drinks reception
- Call dinner and seat guests
- Introduce and lead in top table guests in the correct order
- Announce grace
- Announce speakers in order with the correct preamble, titles and embellishments
Charity Banquets & Balls
In addition to the duties stated above, David will assist with auctions
and raffles, and other forms of fundraising, and will also liase with the
band to start the dancing if required.
Masonic Ladies' Festivals
David was educated at the Royal Masonic School, is a member of the Craft, and therefore understands what masonry is about and is naturally familiar with Masonic protocol and rank. David has officiated at over 500 Ladies Festivals since 1989 and also sings the ladies song if required.
